LiveCast Unveils Ultra Mobile 'Lightning VJ' Solution For Real-Time Mixing Of Live Mobile Video Streams With Breakthrough Simplicity
LiveCast Lightning is a professional enhancement that extends the LiveCast platform by providing low latency (one second on average) live video transmission from mobile devices.
Taipei, Taiwan -- June 03, 2009 -- -- LiveCast® (http://www.livecast.com), a pioneer in streaming live video from mobile devices, today announced 'Lightning VJ', a solution designed for Intel-based Netbooks and Mobile Internet Devices (MIDs) that enables amateur "VJs" to mix real-time mobile video streams into a single live Webcast production. Anyone using a Web- connected device can view the live feed without downloading software.
An enhancement to the end-to-end LiveCast mobile video streaming platform, Lightning VJ offers a simplified version of a live TV broadcast studio mixing console. Ideal for aspiring bands, amateur sports teams and church organizations, Lightning VJ enables anyone to go live by mixing video from up to four different mobile feeds. An easy-to-use interface for previewing and switching live feeds and the elimination of awkward delay in transmission, means it's now possible for consumers to produce a quality online broadcast.
The ability for a few friends to just "show up and shoot" a live Webcast production will be showcased on June 4th, during the Intel ultra mobility keynote address at Computex 2009. Anand Chandrasekher, Intel senior vice president and general manager for the company's Ultra Mobility Group, invites four participants using Netbooks and MIDs to stream live video from their own "point of view"-- from the audience, on stage, and back stage. The designated 'VJ' mixes the four streams, using only a Netbook, into a live production of unique perspectives.

As a member of Intel Software Partner Program, LiveCast was able to access optimization tools including IPP (Intel Performance Primitives) libraries and VTune analyzers to deliver a substantial increase in video quality on Intel Atom processor based mobile devices. Although LiveCast supports any IP network for streaming live video, the convenience of built-in high-speed wireless networking such as WiMAX, makes LiveCast Lighting VJ even more accessible to consumers.
Availability
LiveCast Lightning VJ application and a complete mobile video streaming package is available to consumers through a beta testing program, with full commercial services available early Q4 '09.
