LiveCast To Demonstrate Live Broadcast Technology from a Mobile Device
CTIA Wireless IT & Entertainment, -- San Francisco, CA, September 27, 2005 - LiveCast, a developer of innovative mobile software and automated video delivery technologies, will be in the Intel Corporation booth at the CTIA Wireless event to showcase how the power of the Intel PXA27x processor family based on Intel XScale® technology, are enabling smartphones with next generation video capabilities. LiveCast's live video broadcasting solution has been highly optimized to leverage Intel XScale technologies including: Intel® Wireless MMX™ technology Intel® Performance Primitives multimedia libraries and Intel® Wireless SpeedStep technology™ reduced power-consumption, to enable live livecasting from the palm of your hand.
Recently launched at DEMOfall, LiveCast is the first to offer mobile users the ability to transmit live video broadcasts of any length and to any size audience, easily and inexpensively using LiveCast's innovative "do-it-yourself" streaming video network. "We chose to showcase LiveCast's mobile broadcasting technology at our booth because it demonstrates the kind of applications that consumers and enterprise users will want to see on their next mobile device," said Gary Forni, Director of External Software Enabling for Intel's Cellular and Handheld Group. "It's this kind of compelling application, with its needs for higher processing power, that will drive the deployment of Intel XScale technology in mobile devices."
With the push of one button on a camera phone, mobile users can now broadcast live events to viewers, who can watch the video in real-time on mobile devices or PCs using Windows Media compatible players. The broadcast is also automatically archived on LiveCast media servers for post LiveCast, on-demand viewing, "There are countless applications imaginable for live video broadcasting for both business and entertainment," comments William Mutual, CEO of LiveCast. "From Bloggers wanting to transmit video onsite from an event, to families wishing to share special moments with distant members, to first-on-the-scene Citizen Reporters transmitting as a story happens, to workers in the field needing to use video to get their message across - anyone can now have their own portable TV station ready to broadcast at a moment's notice."
In creating this new service, LiveCast has pioneered two fields: live "one to many" transmission from a mobile device and a "do-it-yourself" video network. LiveCast's solution also integrates the following key components: "one-button" livecasting and event notification software, automatic video archiving on LiveCast media servers, integrated support for major blogging services and provisioning of a personal LiveCast page for easy access to video(s) by viewers.
LiveCast's service will be demonstrated on Intel XScale technology powered phones and PDAs at the Intel booth at CTIA Wireless IT and Entertainment. Trial software versions of LiveCast for specific XScale mobile devices is available for download at http://www.livecast.com
